The History of Cocaine Anonymous Group

C.A. Belgium Area was ratified at the 2025 World Service Conference.
About six years ago, a fellow got to know Cocaine Anonymous through our neighbors in the Netherlands. After attending many meetings there for a year and doing service work, we sat down five years ago with some willing Dutch fellows to start a meeting in Belgium as well. Just then, the COVID-19 pandemic hit, and we decided to start two online meetings.
We joined the Brabant district in the Netherlands, for which we are deeply grateful-it taught us so much. Once physical meetings were allowed again, we immediately opened two in-person meetings. The Tuesday meeting in Zandhoven worked from the very beginning, but the Saturday meeting in Schilde often had only two or sometimes three attendees. We kept going, and eventually that meeting grew strong and healthy t o o so we opened a third.
We experienced significant growth when a 12-step clinic began bringing their clients to our meeting every week. That led us to gradually start doing H&l work, and with each step, we continued to grow. Today, we have a meeting every day of the week— not just in the Antwerp area anymore, but even in Ghent.
With a small group of fellows, we started exploring what was needed to stand on our own and become an Area. In short, the Belgian fellowship is a dedicated group of people who are willing to help the still-suffering addict.
