The History of Cocaine Anonymous Group

The Colorado Area of Cocaine Anonymous is an incorporated entity and belongs to the Southwest North America Region of C.A.
The first C.A. Group appear in in the Colorado Area was, December of 1983 – nameless at the time, in Mercy Hospital. In 1984 Nirvana (originally called meeting number 1) was the first group with a name and held meetings in a counseling center. The Area was ratified at Conference—August 11, 1988 at time when there were 4 Groups and 1 District. Donald Y. was the first Colorado Delegate who attended the 1988 World Conference.
Originally part of the Pacific North Region, Charles S. (1990 World Conference, Colorado Delegate) presented a PETITION FOR COLORADO TO CHANGE REGIONAL AFFILIATION FROM THE PACIFIC NORTH TO THE SOUTHWEST. This motion passed, August 29, 1990 at he World Conference.
Colorado Area has 1 District and more than 40 Groups.
Southern Colorado Area was ratified by the 34th World Service Conference in 2017.
Then, at the 2022 World Conference S. Colorado Area re-merged into the Colorado Area of C.A.
Colorado Area hosts many events such as, the Southwest Regional Convention 2019, an annual Colorado area Convention, as well as participating in Celebrate around the World. It also has numerous local fellowship events on a very regular basis: camping trips, an annual delegate fundraiser, and various speaker events and BBQ’s.
The Area Service Committee meets monthly and alternates between Denver and Colorado Springs and is of service to approximately 400 C.A. Members.
